Moving the draft ceremony away from indoor hotel ballrooms to a 19th-century Mughal heritage garden symbolizes the deep cultural connection between cricket and Pakistan's national identity. Retention Regulations and Category Structure
Each of the six franchises—Lahore Qalandars, Islamabad United, Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi, Karachi Kings, and Quetta Gladiators—is permitted to retain up to eight players across existing categories:
- Platinum: Maximum 2 players retained ($170,000 salary tier).
- Diamond: Maximum 2 players retained ($85,000 salary tier).
- Gold: Maximum 2 players retained ($50,000 salary tier).
- Silver: Maximum 2 players retained ($25,000 salary tier).
- Emerging: 1 mandatory under-23 talent retained or drafted ($10,000 tier).
Trade Window and Right-to-Match (RTM) Cards
A notable rule innovation for PSL 10 is the expanded trade window and the introduction of a Right-to-Match (RTM) card during the live draft. If a franchise releases a marquee player who enters the open draft pool, that franchise can use their single RTM card to match the highest bid and re-acquire the player into their squad.

With an increased overall salary cap, franchises are targeting premier global T20 talent from England, West Indies, South Africa, and New Zealand. Discussions are actively underway to secure top-tier white-ball specialists capable of committing to the full tournament window.
